WHO TO CALL

Update: Beaufort continues weekly pick-up of bagged yard debris, other items despite summer confusion.

Many of the concerns raised within the community are not Association governed matters. They are instead governed by the City of Beaufort through its City Ordinances. If you are interested in reading the full Ordinance related to the subjects below, go to www.cityofbeaufort.org, click on Ordinances (located in box on left of home page), then click on City Ordinances, then open Part 6, Chapter 2 for information regarding overgrown or troublesome lots, and Chapter 4 for information related to dogs.

If your concern is:
  • Overgrown lots
  • Debris ridden lots
  • Abandoned/Junk vehicles

Then call: Ms. Dawn Boren of the City of Beaufort Department of Zoning (525-7040) she will pursue correction of the problem and can write for City Ordinance Violations

    If your concern is:
  • Loose dogs (dog at large)
  • Dog Feces

Then Call: During the day you can call Beaufort County Animal Control - 846-3904

If you are informed that Animal Control is not going to be able to come to our area because they are on other calls during the day or if they are closed, you can call Beaufort City Police - 524-2777 (non-emergency number)

In all cases you will need to be able to identify the animal, provide directions where the animal might be found, and identify yourself and be prepared to talk to an officer. If you want more than a citation issued (warning to the owner), you need to emphasize that you want the matter pursued and that you agree to appear in court (you are the witness for the County or City).

Unless the respondents are able to witness the animal at large or are threatened themselves by the animal, the City and Animal Control are faced with a situation of "he said, she said", if you are not willing to go the distance by meeting the officer and agreeing to go to court.

    If your concern is:
  • A Vicious Dog

Then Call: During the day you can call Beaufort County Animal Control - 846-3904

If you are informed that Animal Control is not going to be able to come to our area because they are on other calls (during the day) and when Animal Control is closed, you can call Beaufort City Police - 911, if the dog is still in the area.

Get immediate medical treatment for any bites which break the skin.
